MAG mucin expression abnormalities in natural cycle biopsies predict subsequent IVF failure.
Objective: We have previously shown that MAG mucin expression abnormalities in endometrial biopsies are correlated with reproductive outcome in patients with longstanding infertility and in donor/recipient IVF cycles. In this study we attempted to determine if the expression of MAG in a natural cycle prior to a medicated IVF cycle predicted IVF success.

Single cell RT-PCR detection of IGF-1 and IGF-1 receptor mRNA expression in preimplantation mouse embryo: Correlation with in vitro development
Objective: Recent studies have demonstrated the importance of insulin like growth factors (IGF's) in murine preimplantation development. Supplementation of culture media with IGF-1 increases the rate of blastocyst formation and the inner cell mass cell number. We studied IGF-s gene expression in a single blastomere of an early murine embryo and correlated it with subsequent embryo development in culture.

Seasonality of spontaneous and IVF pregnancy rates and temperature/humidity effect on IVF.
Objective: A seasonal effect on spontaneous pregnancy rates has been observed in the general population. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the fluctuation of pregnancy rates over time in the normal population and in an in vitro fertilization patient population. A secondary goal was to determine if IVF laboratory temperature and humidity were associated with IVF clinical pregnancy rates.

Prospective randomized trial of autologous endometrial coculture versus traditional IVF.
Objective: One factor that may contribute to the poor success rates in IVF may be the suboptimal culture conditions in which fertilization and early embryonic growth occur. This may result in embryos with compromised growth rates and reduced viability. Therefore, in an effort to more closely mimic the in vivo preimplantation environment the culture of embryos on a layer of cells has been developed (coculture). In April 2002, the FDA recommended that nonhuman coculture cell lines not be used in human IVF due to the concern of xenologous viral transmission. Therefore, in an attempt to alleviate these concerns and to improve IVF success rates, our objective was to determine if embryo development and clinical outcome is improved by autologous endometrial coculture (AECC).
